I LOVE homemade and natural soaps. A fellow online entrepreneur once sent me a few bars of her homemade soap, and I have been hooked ever since, so when I had the opportunity to try Beecology’s Handcrafted Natural Soaps, I was really excited!
I was even more excited when I opened the box they sent me and found this amazing variety of handmade soaps (and they also sent 4 lip balms).
I smelled each bar of soap, and they all smell wonderful, but my favourite ones are the Relaxing Lavender with Honey soap and the Peppermint Honey & Oat Morning soap. I was happy to find a Skin Freshening Tea Tree Oil soap because I have heard that tea tree oil is wonderful for your skin.

This is what the Beecology website said about the Tea Tree Oil soap:

Tea tree oil soap is our anti-everything soap: antiseptic, antibacterial, antifungal, antiviral and anti-acne. Some tea tree soaps have just a token pinch of tea tree oil. We add a heavy dollop of tea tree oil to every bar.
I was also intrigued by the Totally Hip Hemp soap (with lemongrass…dude), and not just because of the cool name, lol.
I went back to the website to hear what they had to say about this soap, and this is what I found…
This soap will make you happy. It has an uplifting lemongrass scent encapsulated in expeller-pressed hemp oils which not only makes you smell great but will keep your skin super smooth and soft.

Soap that makes you happy…cool! I will definitely be trying that out after a long day. But the soap I most wanted to open up and try right away was the Dry Skin Fighter Dead Sea Mud Soap.

It is brown and not that exciting to look at; it has a pleasant, understated scent; and it makes big promises! Here is what they say at Beecology…

Okay, we know the idea of using mud to clean your skin is counter-intuitive. You’ll quickly get past that as you experience our Dead Sea Mud Soap’s healing and restorative powers. It draws impurities from the skin, improves moisture retention, and tightens and balances, leaving your body and face feeling clean and hydrated. The mud from the Dead Sea contains a ridiculously high concentration of essential minerals—people have known about it since Biblical times (this would be an ideal spot to make a crack about how using our Dead Sea Mud Soap is a religious experience, but we’ll resist.)

My skin is horribly dry. I used exfoliating scrubbers and lotions and I still have tight, dry skin. I decided to give it a try and see what happens. I noticed a difference on the first day! The soap felt great while using it and my skin definitely felt softer. After a few days of using it, I realized my arms don’t have a tight itchy feeling like they often do, and since the only change I’ve made is the Dead Sea Mud Soap, I have to give credit to that.

The Beecology Natural Soaps aren’t the only thing I’m sold on though. We also received 4 Beecology lip balms.

I opened one of these right away because my lips (much like my skin) are always dry. It was smooth and soft going on, and it has really made a difference. My 7 year old son has horribly chapped lips, so I gave him one of the  Buzz Balms and he loves it too. This is a much better lip balm than anything I’ve purchased in the drug store, and I wondered what the difference was so I checked out the website again…

We worked with all-natural ingredients until we had a balm that would make dry, chapped lips soft and healthy. Açaí Oil, a mega-antioxidant, gives it its healing properties. It helps dry winters go quicker and summer sun last longer. Don’t forget it when you travel, or you’ll yell “I forgot my Buzz BALM!” and airport security will be all over you.

I am very pleased with both the soaps and the lip balm, and I am definitely a Beecology customer for life!
There was one more great thing about Beecology. One the soap labels I noticed it said “10% of profits go to charity. Choose your charity at SweetYear.org.” Then it gives a charity code for each product.

I went to SweetYear.org and entered in my charity code and I was taken to a list of charities that I could choose from. I chose Susan G. Komen for the Cure, because of the extensive history of breast cancer in my family, and I was then taken to a site that showed what percentage of funds were going to each charity.
Very impressive Beecology!
