Earlier today, my family had the extreme pleasure of heading to the John Labatt Centre in London, Ontario to watch DisneyLive! Mickey’s Rockin’ Road Show. The show was to start at 12:30pm, but we arrived early to make sure we got to see the fifteen minute pre-show. Before we could get comfortable though, the kids just had to have some souvenirs! After carefully looking over all of the wonderful Disney items available, including lifesize Woody and Jessie hats, Mickey and Minnie ears, glow in the dark wands and other various glowing items, the kids chose their toys, got their treats, and we headed to our seats.
They were so excited for the show to start! Avery could hardly contain herself, and when the pre-show started they were all intrigued. A very bouncy girl came on stage and did some fun dances to many of the kids’ favourite disney show tunes, like Handy Manny, the Imagination Movers and the Jungle Junction. It was fun and got people out of their seats and dancing along. They had bubble machines running and Griffin was really excited about the bubbles.
When the actual show started, the MC came on stage and read a long list of rules that included: no laughing, no standing, no talking, etc. etc. Avery had a very serious look on her face that turned to relief when he threw the list of rules away and announced that everyone should get up and dance, bounce, sing, clap and have fun! He encouraged cheering and noise and set the tone for fun.
Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck and Goofy are on a mission to find people to be in their upcoming talent show. They head off in their bus on a journey where they meet Woody, Jessie and Buzz Lightyear from Toy Story…and the soldiers even showed up to help when they had some bus trouble! When Jessie stepped onto the stage, both Avery and Griffin yelled “Jessie!” with complete delight. They love Jessie! Tigger, Cinderella and the Wicked Stepsisters were met along the way too, and eventually they had enough people to have their talent show!
Cinderella and the Fairy Godmother put on a beautiful show that had all of the little girls in the audience starry eyed. Her gown was beautiful and her singing divine. Buzz Lightyear flew into space with a fantastic show complete with giant planets and smoke effects. This was Kellen’s favourite part of the show….that and the jokes that the MC and various characters told throughout the show….
What do rainclouds where under their clothes?
At one point during the show, some parents and children were invited onto the stage where the moms put on a great rock star show and the kids danced and clapped along. It was a great way to get the kids involved! Tigger’s bouncing song was so much fun and it was so cute to watch all of the little kids bouncing in their seats.
At the end of the show, all of the characters performed on stage and loads of confetti was released from the ceiling. My kids really wanted to go to the seating in front of the stage where all of the confetti was falling, but unfortunately it was time to leave.
The show was a lot of fun. I didn’t really like the smoke effects, because the smoke hung in front of the stage for quite awhile and impaired my view of the show, but when I said that to my family, Kellen informed me that the smoke was his favourite part. To each his own! It was a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon with my family and I would definitely recommend it to other families.
