I was always the skinny girl growing up. Before I had children, I had never worn bigger than a size 1, and even after one child I kept a nice figure and was happy around 110 lbs. Baby #1 didn’t earn me stretch marks or big hips, and the only lasting effects, aside from Eric who has been an 18 year side effect so far, was that I earned a letter while bra shopping (A is the best, right?).

This is my skinny little butt about 16 years ago while I was in Florida. I would show more recent, but apparently no one takes your picture when you are a single Mom for 10 years! I remember being self conscious during this trip because it was the first time I wore a bikini since I became a Mom. Can you believe I thought I had a big stomach?!

I have no aspirations to wear a bikini again, because babies two through four did earn me stretch marks, but I really want to get myself back to a weight where I feel happy and healthy. Over the last 8 years I have had 3 successful pregnancies where I gained weight that I only partially lost; I have developed terrible eating habits where I snack at night and give in to cravings; and I don’t cook nearly enough.

My goal is not to reach a certain weight (although I would be lying if I said I didn’t have a number in mind), but to develop better eating habits, get healthier and feel good in my own skin.

Today I am 161 lbs. This is me with my friend (who is probably cursing me for sharing this picture, lol) just a couple of months ago. Notice I am wearing all black in the hopes of looking thinner? Too bad it didn’t work, lol.

To get into the normal range of the BMI charts, I need to lose 20 lbs. To get where I think I will be happy, I need to lose 40 lbs. I have been thinking about how I’m going to do this, and I’m being realistic about it. I’m a working mom to 4, and money is limited, so running out to the gym every day or joining an expensive weight loss program, is just not going to happen. I do belong to the YMCA, and I am going to make a concerted effort to get there, but I’m making a plan that I think I can work with. My plan involves menu planning, exercise using the tools I have on hand, and being accountable to myself and all of my readers. I will weigh in every Friday morning, and post my results here, and I may even humiliate myself by posting my measurements…but we’ll see.

Over the next few days I will posting my plan, as I make it.  I am considering Weight Watchers because I have a coupon to join for free and I have tried it before and liked it. My only problem is an ability to make it to the meetings, and the meetings are what works for me. I love their products too though, so maybe I can do it without the meetings. I am always open to suggestions…and recipes! I really need help finding recipes of things my kids will eat, that are not too difficult or time consuming to make. Iespecially love slow cooker recipes, so send them my way!

Goals are important to me, so here are my first set of goals:

  1. To develop a weight loss plan that I can maintain
  2. To post my progress weekly
