Since spring was very late to arrive here in Canada, my spring cleaning has been a little late too (seriously, the weather is the reason I haven’t done it … that’s my story and I’m sticking to it). Now that it is finally warming up outside and I can open up the windows, I think that I need to get the carpets cleaned and do some painting. Hiring a steam cleaner would be the easiest way to get the carpets done, but I hate to pay someone else to do a job that I can do myself, so I will have to set aside a day when the kids aren’t home to get it done.
The painting is a bigger issue. I don’t mind painting, in fact, I kind of enjoy doing it. The problem is our front entrance. The front wall runs the full height of the house and I don’t own a ladder to get up there. My father has always said that it is important to own a good ladder, but the price has stopped me from buying one. Seriously, I hardly ever need one so I can’t bear to spend hundreds of dollars for it to take up space in my garage. I could visit Erento and rent a ladder or hire a painter, and that is something I am considering, or I could just live with the colour we have had for the last 7 years. My only problem with that is that it was done in builder’s paint and it looks terrible. The builder’s paint holds every finger print and mark and makes the walls look dingy and dirty.
I guess I will start with the carpets and figure out the painting later. Maybe I could rent one of those paint sprayers and just aim from the top of the stairs. That would work, right?
