Gluten intolerance is becoming more and more common these days, and it is great that the food companies are recognizing the need for more gluten free products. While no one in my house is currently on a gluten free diet, it is something we have considered because my son has ADHD and I have IBS. Both disorders are possibly improved with a gluten free diet, so we have tried several different gluten free products while deciding if we are going to make the change.
The arrival of Chex is an answer not only for gluten avoiders but also for their families. It’s a great tasting cereal your whole family will love and it also happens to be gluten free. It’s the best of both worlds! Starting June 2011 Chex will offer two scrumptious varieties, Honey Nut and Rice, in grocery stores across Canada. We’re sure you’ll love the amazing taste and will be inspired by the many great tasting, gluten free recipes that are sure to please the whole family.
We are all big cereal eater in this house. It’s the one meal that I know I will never have to argue with the kids to finish their breakfast as long as there is cereal in the house. We opened the Honey Nut Chex first, and it was completely gone in two days, so it was definitely a hit! I found the kids sitting on the couch eating it right out of the box in the afternoon, so I guess it is good for a snack as well as for breakfast. The Rice Chex was a bit of a harder sell. I really like it, but the kids only wanted it with sugar sprinkled on top, and that’s not a habit I want them to get into, so I got the box to myself.
There are a lot of other fun things you can make with Chex. Launching on June 17th you’ll be able to check out everyday recipes at www.chexcanada.com. I want to try the Chex* Muddy Buddies (Gluten Free).
Disclosure: I am participating in the Chex Gluten Free program by Mom Central Canada on behalf of General Mills. I received a Chex gift pack and a gift card as a thank you for my participation. The opinions on this blog are my own.
