How can you tell you’re having a good time? Take a look at the faces of your fellow kayakers on this Adventure: a two-hour guided kayaking tour through the Humber, a wine tasting class taught by a sommelier, and food pairings on select weekends.
We’ll assemble by Kings Mill Park—a five-minute walk from the Old Mill Subway Station—and meet our guides. After a brief tutorial on how to paddle our vessels along the water, and a few safety instructions, we’ll set off exploring the veritable forest in the city, replete with geese, herons, egrets, minks, muskrats, deer, and various fish. Stay close to the tour guide, lest you want to paddle into Lake Ontario.
After two hours of sightseeing, we’ll return to the park where a thorough wine lesson awaits. Our sommelier will introduce us to six wines from the Australian collection of Treasury Wine Estates, including varietals from Lindeman’s, Fifth Leg, Rosemount, and Wolf Blass. You’ll develop a palate for recognizing the tannins, acids, and playful left-field additions like bark, chocolates, and spices—all while gaining a more robust understanding of the winemaking process.
Carefully selected appetizers will further enhance the oenophile within you, and keep you from chewing the cork to sate your hunger. Not a fan of vino? There will be non-alcoholic refreshments available, as well. After this four-hour excursion, you may know just what it feels like to float on cloud nine.
