Every year, I take my kids out and let them each choose one ornament for our tree that year. We date them and have new memories for our tree. As a result, I have a lot of cartoon character ornaments. I don’t really mind, because each one has a memory attached to it, and I have a lot of homemade ornaments as well, and they all fit together well. However, I have always wanted a pretty theme tree. I think silver and blue would be my preference, and over the last few years I have picked up a couple of ornaments that I think will someday fit my theme and give me the tree I imagine.
Today we went to London, Ontario to do some holiday shopping at Sears. Christmas tree ornaments were our main agenda, and I had a plan to buy only things that fit into my blue and silver theme. I checked the Sears website before heading out, and I knew they had a lot of items for me to choose from. I also visited , which is a great inspiration site for Christmas.
Look at all of the silver and blue ornaments! I was definitely in my element.
The kids were impressed by these Disney ornaments, but I told them today was my day to pick, and they were actually pretty good about it!
My old tree topper adorned it’s last tree last year, so one of the things on my list was to find a new tree topper. We found this pretty silver snowflake on the shelf. I like the colour, and the kids like that it lights up, so we were all in agreement!
If you prefer a little more colour on your tree, these red and white Christmas balls were really cute. I debated getting them for a few minutes, but then went back to my plan.
My favourite purchase today was a glass ball. My picture does not do it justice. It is beautiful. It’s real glass and it’s very heavy, and I’m just hoping it doesn’t get broken because it may be my favourite store bought ornament ever. If I had seen more than one, I would have bought more. I think this simple glass ball would make a really nice gift. Even the store clerk commented on how heavy and pretty it was!
A cute knit pair of red and white ice skates made their way into my cart, because they were just too adorable to leave behind, but otherwise I stuck with my silver and blue theme. I am going to stake out a few other Sears stores to see if I can find a couple more blue snowflakes, and possibly another glass ball, and I will show off my purchases on the tree in a week or two!
