Ham and Cheese Strata Recipe

Refrigerate this egg and cheese casserole overnight, if desired, then pop it in the oven for breakfast.


  • 8 slices white bread
  • 3 cups cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1 cup of chopped ham
  • 1 tsp prepared mustard
  • 1 teaspoons salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 2 cups milk
  • 6 eggs


Trim bread; cut into cubes. In a 3-quart baking dish, put in half the bread cubes, cheese, salt and pepper. Pour beaten eggs with ham, milk and mustard over the layer. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour or overnight. Bake (uncovered) in a 350 degree oven for 30 to 40 minutes or until bubbly and slightly brown on top.
Serves 4 to 6.
