Like most parents, I am very concerned about safety, especially when it comes to driving with my children in the car. When I was with Ford at the NAIAS in Detroit, I had the chance to talk to some of the Ford team about all of the new and standard safety features in their vehicles. There are so many great safety features, that I had to find someone to explain them to me…and he has a great New Zealand accent 😉

Please ignore my amateur videographer skills…

I have had the chance to try some of these safety features myself, and I love the indicator when someone is in your blind spot. I am short (as you can also tell from my video above) and it is difficult to see the blind spot, so the indicator is a lifesaver…literally. I like the added safety of the air bags in the seatbelts, and the lane keep assist is something I can’t wait to try out.

This image shows a vehicle after the airbags have been inflated. It’s amazing to see how much protection the airbags are offering!

Are there any safety features that you really like, or you wish you could have in your vehicle?
