I had the chance to drive a 2012 Ford Focus 5 door Hatchback Select a few weeks ago (shown above).
The thing that most impressed me with the Ford Focus is the fuel economy. It has best-in-class fuel economy of 4.8L/100km on the highway. We picked it up in Toronto and drove it home, which is a 200KM drive, and I was amazed at how little gas we used on the trip. It is perfect for people who are commuting and spending a lot of time on the road.
The interior of the vehicle is very nice. It had leather seats and all of the bells and whistles like SYNC, heated seats and controls at the steering wheel. My husband loves that he can connect his iPod to the car and use bluetooth on his phone.
For our family, this is not the best choice of vehicle in terms of size. We have four children so obviously we couldn’t put the whole family in the car to go anywhere. However, three children fit in the backseat without being squished together, and with two kids, there was plenty of room. They loved pulling down the armrest in the back because it had drink holders in it. It’s the perfect vehicle for a family of four, or a great second vehicle for the commuter in the family.
An interesting feature on the Ford Focus was the ability to switch between automatic and manually controlled gear selection. I did not try this, since I do not know how to drive manual, but I thought it was quite unique to have the option to choose.
Overall, it’s a nice looking vehicle and is great on gas!
