School is starting again next week, and with the new school year comes new school pictures. Each year I debate on what the kids should wear for picture day. For Avery it is fairly easy, she loves to dress up in girly clothes and look pretty, so picture day is a good day for her. She puts together her frilliest outfit and shows off her girly side. But for the boys, it’s not so simple. Do I send them in a tee shirt because that is what they like and usually wear? I like this because the picture will show who they really are, but if we are giving them as gifts it may not be the best choice.

If I can get them to do it, it’s nice for the boys to dress up in a shirt and tie. My oldest son liked to put on a shirt and tie until he was about 10, and then he decided that wasn’t so cool anymore. I think my chances of getting either boys into a shirt and tie are fairly slim, so I will have to settle somewhere in the middle. I usually try to find a nice collared shirt, or I even negotiate to a tee shirt if it is a nice shirt that isn’t wrinkled or covered in silly jokes about selling sisters. My 9 year old has a new shirt that says “I’m pretty much one of the coolest people I know” that I know he’s going to want to wear. I think the shirt is funny, but not picture day funny.

What do your kids wear on picture day?
