I have the privilege of living just a couple of hours from Niagara Falls. It is a beautiful place to visit, and I know it is on many people’s bucket lists. This summer, my family and I headed offer for a few days of fun and adventure in Niagara Falls. We had the chance to do many things that we hadn’t done before too!

Journey Behind the Falls was intriguing and we wanted to give it a try. We all put on our yellow rain ponchos and were brought down an elevator and into a series of tunnels. Eventually we found ourselves on a ledge (it had a railing around it and was very safe) right next to the horseshoe falls. This is a picture I took, without zoom.

It was incredible. And wet. It would be dry for a moment and then the wind would pick up and we would get soaked. Thankfully it was a hot day! There were plaques all around the balcony with information about the falls, so after we were done taking pictures and reading the information, we headed back into the tunnels and found some portals.

These portals were right behind the falls. All we could see was white water, but it was incredible to know we were just a few feet away from the waterfalls. The picture below is a view of the Maid of the Mist from the platform behind the falls.

Before we experienced the Journey Behind the Falls, we visited Niagara’s Fury. We weren’t really sure what we were getting into, especially when they gave us rain ponchos before heading into a room inside a building…we were confused! It started in a large room with a cute animated movie about how Niagara Falls developed. After the film some doors opened and we were lead into another room. This room had a 360 screen and water pouring out of the walls all the way around. We were on a platform, and it was obvious that we were about to experience something amazing.

A second film began showing the creation of the falls that we had just learned about. It included a moving platform and spraying frost and water so we were experiencing the film while we were watching it. It was pretty fun, and we were completely dry under our ponchos.

Here is an outside view of the Horseshoe Falls, taken from the Niagara SkyWheel.

Aside from the Wet Jet and the great experiences I talk about here, we also had a pretty amazing visit to Clifton Hill, which I will talk about in a future post.
