Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Dog Days is the third installment in the hilarious series. We are fans of both the books and the movies in our house, so seeing this movie was a no-brainer. Unfortunately for me, it was released while I was away on a business trip and my family wen to see it without me, leaving me to wait for the DVD release. That day finally arrived this week and I had my chance to watch the movie. I was not disappointed!

Everybody’s favorite wimp, Greg Heffley (Zachary Gordon), is back for three times the fun in the latest film based on the super-popular book series! When Greg’s dad (Steve Zahn) threatens to send him to military school if he doesn’t stay out of trouble, Greg finds all-new ways to land himself in the doghouse! For starters, Greg’s in over his head when he pretends to work at the swanky country club where Rowley’s family has a membership. Things don’t go much better on a father-son camping trip with the Wilderness Explorers, and then there’s the Heffley’s new dog, Sweetie, who fetches even more trouble for Greg in this hilarious family film!

Once again, Greg’s innate ability to always make the wrong choice leads to a lot of laughs for viewers. I love that somewhere in the hilarity there is always a lesson for kids to learn, and maybe a lesson or two for parents as well as Greg’s parents muddle their way through raising three boys. As always, Greg’s brother Rodrick makes Greg’s life even more challenging, and his baby brother is the apple of his parent’s eye.

If you have seen the movie, you will want to check out this alternate ending. But don’t watch it if you haven’t seen the movie!
