Remember the days when we only had three television channels to choose from? I remember how excited I was when we got cable television, and then when we got a VCR and we could rent the movies. I thought it was so cool to be able to go to the video rental store (yes, there was a store just for that) and pick out my favourite movie to watch in the comfort of my home.
Wow…how times have changed.
These days I can watch the movies I love and even complete television series’ by just turning on Netflix. We have Netflix set up to watch through our Xbox, but you can set it up through many devices and also access it from your computer or smartphone. As I write this post my five year old is enjoying one of his favourite cartoons on on the iPad through Netflix. This is particularly nice because my children can never agree on a show to watch and I really get tired of listening to cartoons all of the time. Now I stick some headphones on him with the iPad, and it’s silence for Mommy!
If you need some down time over March Break, consider the Just for Kids section on Netflix. With a wide variety of content for children up to the age of 12, the following shows and films are just an example of the content that will help keep kids happy over the break:
- Chip Wrecked
- The Adventures of Chuck and Friends
- Dora and Diego titles
- Diary of a Wimpy Kid
- The Karate Kid
- The Adventures of Tintin
After the kids head to bed, I have been re-watching Lost. It’s one of my favourite shows and I love that I can watch it whenever I want. My husband has been enjoying The Walking Dead, which I’m not sure I would like. I love that we can each watch our own shows with Netflix.
One of my lucky readers can win a prizepack including a Roku, 1 year subscription to Netflix and a branded blanket.
