My husband and I have been working hard to live a healthier lifestyle. We have both been running and trying to get into better shape, but we have different end goals. My first goal was to complete the fun run at the Disney Social Media Moms Conference, and I did that last month. My next goal, and my husband’s next goal, is to complete the Tower of Terror 5K run at Disney World in October. Ultimately I want to be able to complete a full marathon, but I’m sure I’ll make and reach several smaller goals along the way.
I believe my husband shares my desire to run a full marathon, but he has even bigger plans. He wants to complete a triathlon. I believe in goal setting and aiming high, so I think that he can do it if he goes about it the right way, by training and taking smaller steps along the way. We have been learning so much about running, but there’s even more to learn about traithlons. Not only do you need to learn proper form for running, swimming and biking, but you also need to get the right equipment. Does he buy a black Devinci Leo for the bike portion, or should he consider buying a Wilier bike? In my searches online I found all kinds of great triathlon accessories, like mats that soak up the water while you switch from water to dry land and waterproof armbands for your smartphone. You need the right clothing for a triathlon. You can find shorts, jackets and many other useful pieces of fitness wear at Pearl Izumi. Thankfully we have time before he’s ready for the triathlon so we can keep doing our research.
We are running at Disney in October because the run lands on our eleventh Anniversary, we love Disney World, and they even have kids races to make it a whole family affair. I’m hoping to sign up for the 10K in February, because who wouldn’t want to go to Disney World in February?! The goal after that would be a half marathon.
