Father’s Day is right around the corner and we are working on some fun gift ideas that we can make ourselves. With an exceptional HP printer, I have been able to come up with some fun ideas! The HP site and Snapfish both have some great printables and projects that you can personalize. I love this Father’s Day card because I could add the kids’ pictures right to it, and it prints out beautifully.

After choosing our card, I decided to put together some coupons for the kids to give to my husband. He works hard and we thought it would be fun to give him 12 coupons (one per month) that he could cash in for things like an hour of uninterrupted sports watching (with four children and a dog…an hour without interruption is hard to come by!), breakfast in bed, sleeping in on a Saturday and the dinner of his choice. Each coupon has some conditions, but otherwise he is free to use them at his leisure!

Our last project may not be for everyone, but it’s perfect for my husband. He’s a huge fan of Cougar Town and enjoys yelling “Penny Can!” along with the guys in the show. I thought it would be fun to make Mike his own Penny Can! I emptied a coffee can and found an image online that I could use to make the label. I also found the game rules online and printed them. Using my HP printer and photo paper, this is how our penny can turned out.

Penny Can is a game invented by Bobby Cobb. It involves throwing a penny into an empty paint can. It is often accompanied by copious drinking.

    I would love to win this for my dad! He is 72 now and has never owned a computer. I try to explain to him how he can talk to his family and his friends overseas, in the States and the rest of Canada… I don’t think he can’t imagine it…but I know that once he Skyped someone he loved, he’d be hooked. Utterly hooked!

    He’s also very active in a seniors group here in Victoria and I could teach him how to make newsletters/notices/flyers etc. that he passes out to people in town! This would enable him to gain so much knowledge and express his creativity like he never has before!

    I’d like to nominate my father for the hp envy and printer. He is 70 years old and has recently become immobile, and spends a lot of time on his laptop. Sadly his laptop is slowly dying. I’m sure he would love a new one, so he could keep in touch with his family and friends. If he won the printer, he could print off pictures of his grandson, and word searches from his favourite website to keep him busy. Thank you for the chance.

    When I was a little girl, my father bought his first modern tech gadget: a video camera. It was huge! The full size VHS tape cassette loaded on the side and you had to support its weight on your shoulder. It was the coolest thing back then though, and he would help my brother and I write scripts and act out movies while he filmed us. Those are special memories for us and my dad.

    I nominate my wonderful husband and father to our two little girls. He is always there for us and works hard for our family.
    My husband is on the road for work alot and this would help to stay in contact with him over skype. My girls would love to talk to daddy and see him at the same time.

    He has slipped into the non-tech category. His first tech gadget would be his old HP printer, which is on it’s last legs. He quickly became a grandchildren photo processing printing plant. I would hate (love) to see what he would do with a new HP and if someone told him about Snapfish!

    I nominate my own dad, as he could use a new printer! He is pretty tech savy for his age, but doesn’t really keep up with the newest gadgets! He could benefit from something a little more up to date to print out plans for his wood working projects!

    My husband already had his 1st gadget when we started dating – a cell phone back in the days when they had to be wired into your car & cost a fortune. The novelty has since worn off – now I have to remind him to turn his phone ON so that I can reach him.

    I nominate my father in law because he is probably the most tech savvy guy that I know his age. He loves playing around on the computer and uploading pictures of his grandkids. I think he would love this printer because he’s talks about getting a printer so he can print photos of the grandkids on a moment’s notice and be able to print cool crafts for them to do when they visit. He will probably also use the computer to print out correspondences, since he loves sending out snail mail.

      And I’m sure he’d use the “printer” to print directions to places his friends gather, but the flat-bed scanner feature of the HP Envy 120 e-All-in-One printer is something that would address more immediate/present issues (re: old photos with no negatives).

    The tech gift I remember most for my dad was the first VCR. I don’t remember if it was his first but I do remember it being a big deal and it was the first new technology I remember having a big impact growing up. We had rented VCR’s for awhile to watch movies but then we decided get one for him. It also meant he could tape the sports he enjoys. It was used regularly and definitely a gadget he got a lot of enjoyment from.

    I nominate my dad. He is getting good at using his iPhone to communicate with his friends and family, and with a printer, he will be able to print out the longer emails and read them at his leisure.

    My dads first tech gagdet was a VCR . This was in the late 70,s and no one had one yet. It was a huge machine lol. I think at the time they cost over $1000 lol He got it through business from a client and for him I think it meant he was becoming successful and he was very proud of it

    I nominate my husband on behalf of our daughter. He works 7 days a week to provide for our family and she likes to create artwork and various creations for Daddy. With this wireless printer, he can print off pics I send him wirelessly to put on display for his Daddy pride section at work 🙂

    My dad’s first tech gadget was a cell phone. It was great for him to keep in touch but he ended up stuck in a miserable contract because it was before he was aware of what a cell phone contract really was. He also ended up with a $1500 bill one month because he didn’t understand what “roaming” was!

    My Dad’s first tech gadget was a tablet, it was hilarious watching him try to use it when we first gave it to him for christmas. To this day he always calls and asks how he can do this and that, but it is so much fun when we go visit and he shows different apps he has downloaded and how he can start using it without help now.

    The Palm Pilot was his first gadget. He took it everywhere with him and was constantly tap tap tapping information into it. If you asked him a question, he’d quickly tap around and look up the information.

    When I was 16 my dad bought a video camera. It took him and mom months to research it and make sure it was the exact one they wanted. We took it to Disney world for a vacation, up to the cottage, to parties. My dad rarely operated it himself, he made the kids do that. But he was very proud of it. Funny thing is about a year ago, our video camera had broken right before a special event. He said why don’t you use mine? That’s right, the camera from over 20 years ago was still working! He was pretty impressed with himself that we were using his old camera. (it still works).

    my hubby is a hard worker, he works away most of the time, and this printer would allow him to organize his life with lists he can print for different jobs, plus for here at home.

    I remember my dad getting his first high tech gadget – a computer – it was quite an exciting day for him. My brother and I had used computers at school for several years, and basically taught (or tried to teach!) him everything he knew. He is still not too smooth on it, but he tries. His current computer is a few years old and could really use an upgrade!

    I will nominate my loving husband father of our two wonderful children. My husband was stop from working by is doctors 3 months ago because of heart failure. He work physically hard all is life but always have time for our son and daughter. They couldn’t have ask for a better father. Now I think he is a little board with not working. He loves taking pictures of our 6 months old grand daughters and everything. He’s pretty good with is hands and would like to build our 6 months grand daughter a doll house…lol already. He also going to built a few bird houses. The HP ENVY x2 and HP ENVY 120 printer would make it possible for him to find pattern and print them. Also he could print all the pictures he love taking. I think it would be a good pass time for him and keep him occupied while he wait for surgery.

    My dad’s first tech gadget was the original Nintendo (NES). I still remember how excited he was that Christmas when he received it from “Santa”, he couldn’t get over how pressing a couple of buttons on the controller would move the little man (Mario) on the screen. I remember him staying up until 3 in the morning playing that game. Now he’s much older and works crazy hours so he doesn’t have the time to play video games but I can just imagine how much fun he’d have playing the game systems that are available now a days 🙂

    I nominate my dad, he`s amazing at building everything but set him up with a tech gadget and he`s..well he`s lost.

    His first tech gadget that I can remember is the vcr and yes he still owns it (he loves watching his favourite star on it, how many times can you sit and watch Clint Eastwood, my Dad can watch him over and over) and when the power goes out he still calls me to help him set it up again..oh don`t even get me started on the satellite dish..lol

    The first tech gadget I know my father owned was a recording device he bought from his first job in the early sixties. What makes this special is that on it he recorded his family when they were young including his father who passed away before any of his grandchildren were born. We all get a chance to hear him singing and laughing with his family even though we never got to meet him. Cool !

    i nominate my bf.. he is so kind and caring toward both our girls.. my oldest is not “his” but he has never once talked down to her.. he has accepted her as his own.. he is not great on the computer among other gadgets but he’s been trying to print off family pictures, trying to be more tecki… its so cute watching him fuss with our old printer.. i think he deserves a new one.. he never asks for anything so this would be great for him!

    Option 1: I nominate my husband who is a great dad but a very busy dad with a new baby, a 7 year old daughter, and a job that requires long and sometimes unusual hours. A new wireless printer for at home would help him cut down on time that he would need to spend at the office since he would be able to get some work done at home, therefore he could spend more time with the family.

    His first tech gadget was one of those massive brick cellphones – the ones that could hold a door open. For him, it was a sign that he’d ‘made it’ – it was the 80s and no one else we knew had one unless they were a doctor.

    My Dad’s first tech gadget was the original Atari video game system. He and my mom would stay up all hours of the night playing it. Unfortunately, we lost my dad in 1984 so he missed out on all the technology! He would have been in is glory and would have had all the latest and greatest to play with!!!
