When I was in college, I discovered a little deli not too far from my school. They would make the most delicious sandwiches on thick Italian bread and I couldn’t get enough of them. It got a little hard on the pocketbook though, so I discovered I could make my own deli sandwiches at home, and they have been one of my favourite lunches ever since.

Soon after college I discovered strata. This is a perfect holiday brunch meal and I always make it with Italian bread. Villaggio has a delicious Bacon and Mushroom Strata recipe on their site.

Doesn’t that look amazing? I think I will try that recipe this Christmas instead of my ham and egg strata that I typically make. It will be delicious when served with my French Toast Casserole too!

Here are some other yummy ways to enjoy Villaggio bread:

  • Toasted with garlic butter and served with pasta
  • Toasted with butter and cinnamon for a mid morning snack
  • Cut into cubes and used with your favourite Thanksgiving stuffing recipe
