Everywhere you turn these days, someone is talking about zombies or the Zombie Apocalypse. There are zombie walks, zombie runs,  zombie songs, zombie movies, zombie video games and zombie television shows. All of these things can fuel the imaginations of people who believe that the zombie apocalypse is a possibility. Soon people will be passing up their funeral insurance for zombie insurance (because every zombie can use a big payout)!the-walking-dead

I was never interested in zombies and I honestly had no idea what people were talking about when they were going on about the Zombie Apocalypse. That changed when I started watching The Walking Dead last year. Only then did I start to understand the fascination. That show is brilliant. Admittedly, I have to watch with my hand blocking half the television screen so I can avoid the gore, but Daryl the story line is enough to keep me watching.

The show got me thinking about what would be important to me in some sort of end of times event. What would I want with me? My family of course, food, water, a camper would be great and Michonne has a good thing going with her Samurai sword. I’m not sure I could be quite as effective with one though. I actually might prefer a cross bow like Daryl has. I asked my facebook followers what three things they would want with them in a Zombie Apocalypse and I got a variety of answers. Here are the things that people said they would want with them:

  • Family
  • Food
  • Water
  • Weapons in many forms: guns, swords, machetes
  • Decent shoes
  • Medication
  • A boat
  • Miles Matheson & Sebastian Monroe (main characters in Revolution)
  • Something to read
  • A well stocked storm cellar
  • Batteries
  • Computer

And the best answer was given by my friend Michael, who said he would bring “three delicious people whom I can outrun”.

What would you need in a Zombie Apocalypse?
