As a Mom of four who has been doing this Mom gig for over twenty-one years, I know how easy it is to neglect my social life. Over the years I’ve lost touch with old friends and found many new friends too. Friendship is different when you are a busy mother though, at least in my experience. Where I used to head out for a night of dancing, I now enjoy a facebook chat or a quick cup of tea in between kid drop-offs and pick-ups. Life is busy, and it’s hard to find a few minutes just to enjoy some time with friends. That’s why it was so nice to be able to grab a quick lunch with a friend at Wendy’s, much like the lucky women in the video below.
During our lunch at Wendy’s we discussed our children. I know that may seem like we are not embracing our time alone by spending it talking about the kids, but I really value the thoughts and opinions of my Mom friends so it’s nice to have that opportunity. It was also nice to go somewhere fast and affordable and still be able to order something that was made fresh in the restaurant that day.
Wendy’s has always been a leader in the salad business. They were the first restaurant to bring the salad bar to quick service restaurants nearly thirty years ago, and now they are recognizing the popular culinary trends with their three new salads: to the Asian Cashew Chicken Salad, BBQ Ranch Chicken Salad and Taco Supremo Salad. These salads are 50% lower in fat grams, 29% lower in sodium, and 61% lower in saturated fat which makes them a perfect choice for a couple of Moms who are trying to live healthier lives.
I chose the BBQ Ranch Chicken Salad, and I ordered a half size instead of the full size. I love that I have that option. The chicken on my salad was all white chicken breast meat that was freshly grilled right on site. The lettuce is hand chopped and washed on site, and the tomatoes, cucumbers and red peppers are all chopped right in the restaurant. The BBQ Ranch Chicken Salad is made with premium ingredients that you see around your grill, such as fire roasted corn, freshly diced tomatoes, shredded sharp cheddar cheese, applewood smoked bacon, and a honey BBQ sauce. It is obvious when you taste these salads that they are made from fresh ingredients, and this salad was packed full of BBQ goodness.
My friend ordered the Taco Supremo Salad. It comes with taco chips, tangy salsa, sour cream and a cup of hot & meaty chili, all served on a crisp bed of fresh lettuce and topped with shredded cheddar cheese. She also ordered the half salad, and it looked and smelled so good.
Her salad required a bit of work as she put all of the toppings together. She added the chips, salsa, sour cream and topped it with the chili. It may look a little bit messy when all put together, but she said it was delicious and it definitely looked like it was to me. I have had Wendy’s chili in the past and I know just how good it is, so adding it to a salad couldn’t be anything but good.
Since I rarely finish a meal in a restaurant, salads included, I like that I could put the lid back on the container and take my salad home to finish later on.
I know we are all busy, so grabbing a fresh new salad at Wendy’s is the perfect way for busy Moms to grab a quick visit and delicious lunch together, and enjoy some fun conversation too!
