What is better on a hot day than a cold glass of lemonade? I can tell you, it’s a cold glass of lemonade made fresh with real lemons! Lemonade, orange juice, apple juice… it’s all better when made fresh and that’s exactly what we are doing to stay cool this summer.
I’ve owned a juicer for years but didn’t use it often. It was hard to put together and take apart, and even harder to clean, so I shoved it in a corner and rarely took it out. I have a new juicer now, the Hamilton Beach Big Mouth Juice Extractor, and it’s so easy that my 10 year old can use it.
By simply lifting the green latches on the sides of the juicer, you can release the parts to clean, and it goes back together just as easily. It’s called the “Big Mouth” juice extractor for obvious reasons, and it is dishwasher safe. I haven’t put it in the dishwasher because it rinses out in the sink in a matter of minutes. Once we determined how easy it was to assemble and disassemble, we needed to make some juice.
Since my daughter has a real passion for lemonade, particularly raspberry, strawberry and kiwi lemonades, we had to make that first. Plus it’s the perfect drink to enjoy on the patio with some friends!
Fresh Squeezed Strawberry Lemonade
- 3 lemons
- 7 large strawberries
- 7 cups cold water
- 4 tbsp sugar
- 2 cups crushed ice
- Peel your lemons and put them through your Hamilton Beach Big Mouth Juicer.
- Wash the strawberries and put them through the juicer.
- Pour the water into a serving jug.
- Add the lemon and strawberry juice and sugar to the water. Stir.
- Add the ice.
- Serve.
Tomorrow we try some kiwi lemonade made in the juicer. Since we are looking at one of the hottest days of the year, it should be a good day to have it!
