There is a new trend I’m noticing and it is one that I hope continues. Big brands are going beyond marketing their products and actually making an impact in other people’s lives. Schneiders is the latest of these companies to step up and do something amazing for a group of young ball players.

In celebration of Baseball Day in Canada on August 10th, Schneiders employees partnered with the Toronto Blue Jays and surprised the Scarborough Stingers and North York Blues with a once-in-a-life time “big league” experience. They upgraded their baseball diamond, brought in Ace the Blue Jays Mascot, provided play-by-play announcers and brought in scores of cheering fans. Everything was recorded by a video production team and you can see the joy on the kids’ faces. Of course they day was made complete by volunteers from Schneiders who provided hot dogs and sausages just like they do in the big leagues.

I got a little teary watching this video. There is nothing more magical than watching a child’s dreams come true and the kids in that video were loving every minute of it. The parents seemed to be enjoying themselves too, and why wouldn’t they? They’re kids were being treated like royalty. I love this quote from Cam, a 9 year old player with the Scarborough Stingers:

“Mommy, do you think that is what the Blue Jays players feel like? I mean, everyone cheering for you and wanting you to do well? It makes you feel like a hero, and like you want to try with your whole heart to do well, even though you know you may not win. That was the best sports experience of my life. My whole team felt special.”

I think this video is a great reminder of how powerful our actions are and how important it is to celebrate one another. It changes lives. Kudos to Schneiders for doing such a great job! There’s another thing Schneiders has always been great at, and that’s food. You can find some delicious recipes like Tex Mex Hotdogs on their website and by following Schneiders on facebook.
