While browsing facebook the other day I saw someone ask if you choose a word or phrase for each new year. I can’t say that I have ever done that in the past, but it’s a trend I may adopt, starting with last year. If I had to sum up my year with one phrase, it would be “stay the course”.
2013 brought us so many changes and ups and downs, with my son’s diagnosis of an autoimmune disease and my husband’s work accident that took him off work for most of a year. We were all in survival mode, but we were past that in 2014. We paved a path for recovery for them both and followed that path all year. For my husband that meant finishing the year with a couple more surgeries, that are hopefully the last. For my son it meant maintaining his current level of health. We had no major setbacks, and no major improvements. No news is good news, at least in this case.
Kidsumers also stayed on an upward course all year. New partnerships were formed with many amazing brands like Hamilton Beach and Walmart Canada. I continued to foster relationships with P&G, Orange Naturals, the YummyMummyClub and PTPA. 2014 was the year that I grew closer to many of my readers through twitter parties and blog comments, and I established some strong peer connections. I had some amazing travel opportunities and became part of the FamilyTravelCA team. I call that a great year!
2015 is already looking like a year to remember. My 2015 phrase will be a line from the great Walt Disney “Keep Moving Forward”. At home we are planning some family trips to remember, and my son will begin his grade 7 year as a homeschooler, in order to allow him to get the rest he needs to maintain good health. I have created a long list of articles and blog posts that I want to share with you all, and I look forward to learning more about each of you through our conversations on Kidsumers and through social media channels. Keep your eyes open for some fabulous giveaways and amazing twitter parties too!
