Father’s Day can be a difficult day for some children, particularly those who are separated from their parents. There are children all over the country living in foster care and hoping to find a forever home. Dave Thomas, the founder of Wendy’s, believed passionately that every child deserves a safe, loving, and permanent family rings even louder this time of year.
The majority of children who live in foster care are there for no fault of their own. They have lost their parents due to illness, accident, addiction or abuse. They played no role in their circumstance, and they deserve a chance to be raised in a permanent and loving home. Too many children live out their childhoods in foster care without finding a permanent home. I know some amazing foster parents, but it is not the same as having a home that you know is yours forever. Wendy’s wants to help change their stories, and you can also help make a change and contribute to improving the lives of these children.
Father’s Day Frosty Weekend is coming up this Saturday, June 20 and Sunday, June 21 and Wendy’s and our customers are celebrating fathers and families alike by helping foster children find forever homes. $1 from the sale of each Frosty at participating Wendy’s restaurants over the weekend will be donated to the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption Canada to help find families for the children waiting in foster care.
There isn’t a better reason to visit Wendy’s or buy a Frosty! Show children in foster care that they matter and that you share Dave Thomas’ belief that all children deserve a forever family.
