As a kid I was always an avid reader – I would dive deep into a full series of books and sometimes wouldn’t emerge from my room for hours since I was so engrossed in the stories! Somewhere along the way, as I grew up I lost that habit for reading. I guess life just got busier, and I was always out and about, unconcerned with indulging in the world of reading. I remember going on my first week long vacation with my now husband, and bringing along a few books to read on the beach. I think that triggered my love for reading again, and I while I can’t hide away for hours with a good book anymore, I’ve decided to make reading part of my daily routine.

While I’ve always loved the physical feel of a good book in my hands, let’s face it – books can be pretty inconvenient. They started piling up by my bedside table and really added on to the weight my luggage while travelling. Another inconvenience: if I wanted to read outside of the house, everyone know what I was reading at a glance! Whether it’s a sappy Nicholas Sparks book or a self-improvement book – I personally like to keep my choice of reading material to myself!

This is why when e-readers first came out I was excited and intrigued! The Kobo Glo HD is the PERFECT companion for anyone who loves to read. At only 180 grams and measuring 157 x 115 x 9.2 mm I can bring this thing ANYWHERE! It has truly changed the way I read. Not only can bring several books with me while I travel without extra weight, but I can now just stick the Kobo and all my books into my purse for on the go reading too. Having the Kobo with me has made waiting rooms much more tolerable and I’ve also developed a new love for reading in my favourite café.

Another one of my favourite features of the Kobo Glo HD is the built-in “ComfortLight” technology. The screen of the Kobo already mimics the pages of books, but I love that I can use and adjust the light so I can read in dimmer situations without having to turn on an external light source or straining my eyes.

Now that I’ve made the switch to an e-reader, I’m not sure I can ever go back to traditional books. The one thing that really frustrated me about reading books was that my bookmark was always falling out and I always lost my page! With the Kobo Glo HD that never happens since it remembers where I left off – even when reading multiple books at the same time!

If you’re thinking of making the switch from books to an e-reader or looking to upgrade your e-reader I’d highly recommend the Kobo Glo HD. It’s a powerful little device packed with multiple features and will open your eyes to a whole new way of reading.

The Kobo Glo HD retails for $129.99 and can be purchased at Chapters Indigo.
