I still remember the first time I decided to shave my legs. I picked up my Mom’s razor and shaved my preteen legs without any shaving lotion or even water. I was a bit of a rough and tumble kind of kid and of course I managed to remove any scabs that were forming on my knees and nick myself over all of the scars and bumps. The worst part was the razor burn. My summer skin was not prepared for that kind of abuse, and what was left was not pretty.
I quickly learned my mistakes and figured out what I had done wrong. A couple or few decades later, and my daughter was ready to enter the shaving stage of her life. She’s not one to ask a lot of questions, so I started out by giving her a Schick Hydro Silk razor and some Skintimate Shave Gel. Then I gave her these basic tips:
- Take your shaving supplies into the shower with you, and clean your legs first.
- Use the shave gel to avoid razor burn but also to help you see where you have and haven’t shaved yet.
- Shave, being careful over knees and ankle bones.
- When you’re done, moisturize.
She’s been following this process for about a year and I haven’t noticed a nick on her yet. I call that a win!
Recently my daughter and I both added AVEENO® Skin Relief Gentle Scent™ Coconut Body Wash to our skin care regime. I have been a fan of AVEENO® products for many years, and this body wash lives up to my expectations. My normally dry skin soaks up the AVEENO® treatment and is left feeling smooth and moisturized. My daughter still has that smooth youthful skin and I’m helping her maintain it for as long as possible by providing her some AVEENO® Skin Relief Gentle Scent™ Coconut Lotion to use after her shower and shaving routine. Together we are feeling ready for bathing suit season!
