While wandering the interwebs today, I found this lovely message for me on twitter:
Wishing @kidsumers a bug-free, fun-filled, energized day filled with Simple Joys!
It was a really nice way to start my day, and I wanted to know what she meant by Simple Joys, so I visited Chief 187 Chatter to read her post. I found a blog written by a woman (The Chief!) with a huge smile and a great outlook on life. Her “Simple Joys” is a regular feature that does exactly what it says… lists her simple joys in life. Thanks for the inspiration Chief! I won’t be stealing your concept on a regular basis, I promise, but today I would like to share my Simple Joys as well…
A cup of coffee: I know it may not be great for me, but I didn’t start drinking it until I was 35, so I figure I’m okay because most people have ten years of drinking coffee by then! Am I right? Just smile and nod…
My vegetable garden: There is something life affirming about growing your own vegetables and feeding them to your family. And there is nothing like a warm fresh tomato sliced on toast with cheese and mayo….mmmmm.
A good book, shared: I love to read. I really love to read a great book and then share it with someone. My son shared Harry Potter with me many years ago, and now I always take his recommendations. Have you read anything great lately? I would love some suggestions!
An evening walk: There is something calming about going out for an evening walk with your spouse. It may not be calming with the kids, but still enjoyable and a great way to spend some time with the family at night.
Swimming on a hot day: We are fortunate enough to have a family member with a pool and I have been taking the kids over there swimming almost daily. It’s a great way for me to teach them some swimming skills and for us all to cool off!
What are your simple joys in life? Make sure to visit Chief 187 Chatter and share them with her too!
