Taking your children to a special event or show is a lot of fun, but how do you handle the build up to the big day? Do you tell the kids ahead of time, or surprise them right before it happens? I’m not very good at keeping exciting secrets from my kids, so I always end up telling them ahead of time. It can be great leverage for good behaviour, but also gives you something to look forward to. We count down sleeps and usually do some research online about the event we are attending. My kids will ask to see pictures online every day until we actually go to the event.
We recently went to Disney World and I couldn’t keep that a secret from the kids, but I did manage to keep a secret about the trip. We went to the Crystal Palace for our very first character dining experience where we met some of our favourite Disney Junior characters. It was so fun to see their faces when they realized that they were going to get to meet these guys during their lunch!
