Online shopping is becoming a popular way to get what you need for the holidays. I was always a shopper who needed to go to the store and see the products in person before buying them, but that has changed over the last couple of years. I don’t enjoy shopping in the crowds and driving from one store to the next. By shopping online I can do price comparisons in a matter of minutes and make a real informed decision before making my final purchases.
Walmart has recently improved their online site, making it much more user friendly and offering a lot of new products in their online store.
Walmart Canada is looking to re-define the way customers shop online with the launch of its new e-commerce site. The newly redesigned site ensures customers get a seamless browsing experience , whether they’re shopping on a traditional desktop or laptop computer, a Smartphone or a tablet.
Designed with a “tablet and touch” sensibility, the site features advanced functionalities such as a best-in-class search tool, location-based and personalized services, a simplified one-page checkout process and a guest checkout option, which allows customers to shop online without having to create an account.
The new www.walmart.ca features a larger product selection across key categories such as baby, electronics, home and dry grocery. Walmart has also added hundreds of new and innovative products to the site carried exclusively online.
Walmart provided me with a $100 prepaid card to shop at Walmart.ca and see just how easy it is. I decided to get some items that are on the kids’ Christmas lists. They have all asked for Lego, so I searched for Lego and then narrowed my results down by making selections in the sidebar. You can see the process in the screenshots below.
There are menu options to look at items that are available in store or online. You can look at items in a specific price range, by brand names or by age assignment. The products are sometimes divided by gender, or you can choose to just look at clearance items or products that come with free shipping. There are a lot of options to make the shopping process easy!
I chose to get a lego set for each of the kids, and a Monster High doll that my daughter has been wanting. I then added a few stocking stuffers to the package to come to my $100 total (it was actually just under $100 with tax and shipping).
Overall I found the shopping process very easy and I will definitely be using their online store again in the near future. My products arrived to my door in under a week too, which I consider a very reasonable amount of time for shipping. It sure beats driving an hour to my closest Walmart!
