Hundreds of families will kick-off the holiday season by helping to build a ‘home sweet home’ for families in need by decorating their own gingerbread houses at Habitat for Humanity Greater Toronto Area’s 12th anniversary Gingerbread Build. Habitat for Humanity is a cause that I consider near to my heart, since a very close friend of mine was able to become a home owner thanks to our local Habitat for Humanity. I believe it not only provided a permanent home for her and her children, but also increased her own confidence and self worth. I encourage everyone who is able to get out to volunteer for the 12th Annual Gingerbread Build.
While volunteers have to be at least 16 years of age to volunteer on a Habitat build site, children of any age can participate in the Gingerbread Build. By doing so, they are offering a ‘hand up’ to children in need of a simple, decent, affordable home. 100% percent of the funds raised through the event will go directly to building more Habitat homes for families in need of affordable housing in the GTA.

There are a few ways to support this great cause even if you cannot attend the event. Here’s how:
- Visit the Gingerbread Build website to purchase a take-away gingerbread kit for festive fun at home. The kits can be picked up any of the three Habitat GTA offices.
- Spread the holiday cheer by purchasing a kit for a family living in a local women and children’s shelter.
As the Presenting Sponsor of Gingerbread Build 2014, Bounty will once again make Habitat GTA a part of its holiday celebrations for employees and partners and their families, while supporting GTA families and children living in need. As a sponsor, Bounty will be partnering with Habitat GTA’s longest standing annual event, focused on children and families.
