I love a challenge, so when RetailMeNot.ca challenged me to save money on holiday related expenses beyond just gifts, I was in! Let’s face it, holiday expenses go far beyond gifts. We need food for baking, menu items for Christmas dinner, ornaments and other decorations, wrapping paper, dishes, holiday outfits and so much more. Thankfully we can find savings and promo codes using RetailMeNot.ca.
I like to add new ornaments to our tree each year, and this year I decided to start purchasing ornaments for the adult Christmas tree I plan to have in the coming years. I want to put a tree for the kids in the rec room and a tree that I can enjoy in the family room. My tree is going to feature a nature theme and I found just what I wanted at Indigo. The last time we were at Indigo Chapters I found some knit stockings that I loved, but I just couldn’t bring myself to buy seven of them and I like us all to match. When I found this sale on RetailMeNot.ca, I was hopeful that I could find those stockings on sale.
Not only did I find the stockings and the ornaments I wanted, I also found some nature themed candles that will fit in beautifully. I also chose some wrapping paper and gift tags to save myself from going out to buy it. Everything was on sale, and I saved $120 on the stockings alone.
My total savings from Indigo Chapters was $188.98, plus I earned 872 Plum Rewards to use at Indigo in the future. We are regular book shoppers, so I know those points will come in handy.
I also wanted to get a couple of things to keep the kids busy during long car rides and long days at home. Scholar’s Choice always has great games, so I checked RetailMeNot.ca for deals and found the following listings.
I didn’t find what I wanted in the clearance section, so I purchased a couple of games at the regular price and I bought a membership to the store. On this trip it only saved me $12.50, but that membership will continue to save me at least 10% on every purchase in the next year. I know that will add up over time!
My total savings came to a grand total of $201.48. I am very pleased to have saved over $200 while getting things that I have been wanting and needing for our Christmas break. I also found some amazing deals for gift shopping that I took advantage of too.
