While we often complain about the long and cold Canadian climate, it’s not uncommon for us to see snow fall in March and even April. This means we’re sporting toques, trousers and too many layers to count for at least six months of the year. So, when the temperature soars into the double digits, we’re ready to take full advantage of the sunshine and warmer weather. As we say goodbye to the hats that hide our unwashed hair and trade our long pants for short shorts and skirts, I’m sure I’m not … [Read more...] about Summer Hair, Don’t Care!

It is a privilege to live in a country where health care can be taken for granted. As a woman who dealt with difficult pregnancies, I didn't have to worry about whether or not I could afford the doctors, tests and treatment that I needed. When my first son struggled with weight gain the doctors ran multiple tests to rule out any serious illness (he had none, he was just small). My second son contracted RSV at just six weeks old and was admitted to the hospital where he could be monitored and … [Read more...] about Take Action for Women and Children Around the World #Heart4MaternalHealth
Before you had kids you were able to celebrate the privilege of spontaneity. You could jump in the car and head off to the airport and buy a ticket for the first flight out of there, no questions asked. What was a couple of hundred bucks back then? As for the cost, well, that cheap $200 flight will now be the best part of a thousand bucks. Yeah, the game has changed. … [Read more...] about Save Big On Your Next Trip
I've been a regular attendee of Canada's Wonderland since it opened way back when I was still in the single digits. It was an annual tradition with my family and one I always looked forward to. One of the greatest family fun additions to park, in my opinion, is Splash Works. This huge water park is located inside of the Canada's Wonderland and a Season Pass will give … [Read more...] about Find fun all year long at Canada’s Wonderland
It was August 14th, 2003 and I was home with my tween and infant sons when the power went out. That wasn’t such a rare occurrence where we live so I wasn’t overly concerned. We moved outside to enjoy the breeze while we waited for the power to be restored. Eventually my husband returned home and said that the power was out everywhere, not just in our neighbourhood. Out came the radios while we tried to find out the news (even in 2003, getting out the radio was old school). We sat on the front … [Read more...] about Would you manage for 72 hours without power?
When my husband and I headed into 2017, we had a plan to stay away from all sugar and carbs without fail. Of course we did fail, so we restructured our plan a bit. Rather than deny ourselves everything that we had previously considered a treat or snack, we chose a select few items that we would treat ourselves with in moderation. Among the sweet treats we allow ourselves is barkTHINS®. Since dark chocolate is said to have anti-oxidants and is considered a better choice than other sweet … [Read more...] about When the sweet cravings hit, I reach for barkTHINS #betterwithbarkthins #snackingelevated
