Hot Toys for the Holidays

•

The Canadian Toy Association held the Ninth Annual Hot Toys for the Holidays this week, and I had the chance to take my three youngest to the Toronto Zoo to see all of the toys! My friend Pam brought two of her gang along too, and we let them loose to explore the toys.

There were so many toys to see. They saw Bratz dolls, the Kachooz Furbulous Salon that Avery is talking about on the Global News clip, Lalaloopsy toys, a PlasmaBike, Schleich toys, Crayola crafts, K’Nex, RC, Litehawk and so much more.

Griffin and Avery both liked the LeapPad and Griffin spent quite a bit of time playing with it. He is always drawn to the electronics though, so it was no surprise.

This Discovery Kids Eco Friendly Colour Me Play Castle is just a cardboard castle, but it was a huge hit with the kids. Avery especially enjoyed it, and she spent a lot of time colouring it. Griffin preferred to go inside it to colour. You can see Avery being interviewed about the castle here.

Griffin loved the Playmobil Falcon Knights Castle. He kept coming back to it and asking me to put it on the floor so he could see it better (his lack of height was a real disadvantage), and he played with it even when I didn’t move it for him.

Kellen was drawn to the Lego Pirates of the Caribbean ship (he can also be seen in the Global News clip playing with it). He loves to build and play pirates, so it is his kind of toy! This and the RC Thunder Tumbler were his favourite items at the toy fair.

This K’Nex ferris wheel was battery operated and the kids enjoyed watching it turn. Griffin wanted to know where the people for it were, but Avery was content to watch it turn. She enjoys building with K’Nex.

Playmobil knows how to make toys that appeal to little boys, because Griffin was loving the Playmobil Large Zoo too. It was fitting to play with it while at the Toronto Zoo!

Melissa & Doug always make great creative toys and Avery and Griffin enjoyed the felt food. They made some felt sandwiches for me too!

Santa also made a surprise visit to the Zoo, and took some instruction on the proper salute from this RCMP officer. He brought a couple of his reindeer to the toy fair and the kids got to go outside and see them.
