UPDATED ANNUALLY! It is almost Family Day weekend in Ontario, and that means there are a lot of fun family events happening around the province! I have compiled a list of just a few of the amazing activities happening around the province this Family Day weekend…fishing, skating, swimming and so much more! Take a look below and feel free to leave more activities in the comment section!

Ontario Wide

Family Fishing Weekend

February 16-18, 2019 is  designated as OFFW license-free fishing days. During most other periods, most Canadian residents between the ages of 18 and 64 years must purchase an OUTDOORS card and a fishing license to legally fish in Ontario, but to celebrate Family Day… you are free to fish in Ontario!

From Saturday to Family Day Monday, we’re looking forward to 3 days of great skiing and snowboarding.

Our Sunday Special — $33 lift Tickets, $15 rentals after 12:30 — moves to the Family Day Monday.

Kitchener-Waterloo

Family Day Hack Jam!

Join us this Family Day, February 18th, from 9am-5pm for THEMUSEUM’s 7th Annual Family Day Hack Jam! With activities spanning every floor of the space, you and your family will spend the day tinkering and making, learning about S.T.E.A.M., digital technology, and interactive tech-art. 

Half price admission for the day includes access to all Hack Jam vendors and our exciting exhibitions! Bring a lunch and stay a while!

Kitchener-Waterloo Art Gallery

Celebrate your family with free creative activities at the Victoria Hills Community Centre.

Celebrate your family with creative activities that kids and kids-at-heart can enjoy together. Create a personalized set of nesting dolls inspired by the members of your own family, and take part in a collaborative community art project! Activities are designed for ages 4-12+ with adult companion. All ages are welcome!

Ray’s Wildlife Festival

MEET A BOBCAT & A SLOTH! Get to know a gator! Make friends with an armadillo! And many more amazing animals. Little Ray’s Nature Centre, Soper Creek Wildlife, and the Foundation for Animal Rescue are bringing you a not to be missed event this Family Day Weekend February 15th, 16th, 17th, and 18th at Bingemans Conference Center!

Bingemans Family Day

Bring the family to Bingemans for the Family Day Carnival! 
Enjoy inflatables, rides, food and activities! The fun takes place in the Ballroom on Sunday Feb. 17th and Monday Feb. 18th. Children ages 2 – 11 are $10 each, adults and children under 2 (with accompanying children ages 2-11) are free. The fun goes from 10am to 4pm (All prices subject to applicable taxes & fees).

Family Day Weekend Journey to Space

What better way to spend Family Day weekend than to bring your family to see our new temporary exhibit, Journey to Space, created by the Science Museum of Minnesota. Our exhibit gives a glimpse of the challenges and triumphs of space exploration. Experience what it is like to be on board the International Space Station, discover what is possible and what awaits in orbit and beyond. Included with regular admission.

An Evening with Emm Gryner

Emm Gryner is a Canadian songwriter, musician and singer. She has released dozens of albums and has been nominated for a Juno Award three times. In 2013 she collaborated with astronaut Chris Hadfield on a new version of “Space Oddity”, recorded partly aboard the International Space Station.

Emm’s latest album “Only of Earth : Days of Games” (out May 3 2018 – Dead Daisy Records) is the first of three albums (graphic novel to come) based on a semi-autobiographical science fiction tale. The first instalment is “Only of Earth: Days Of Games” and is a 1970s classic-rock/1980s synth-pop-infused collection of tunes.

Storybook Gardens

Feb. 18th, 2019 10am – 5pm

There’s lots to do on Family Day at Storybook Gardens. In addition to our beautiful ice skating trail, this Family Day enjoy pancake breakfast served by the campfire and take a horse-drawn wagon ride around the park (additional fee applies for wagon ride). Beavertails pastry treats available at the rink-side concession stand.

Boler Mountain

Feb. 17th, 2019 6-9pm

Come celebrate Family Day with us! Boler Mountain will be open extended hours for skiing and snowboarding both Sunday and Monday. In addition, we will be hosting a special tubing event on the Sunday from 6pm to 9pm which tickets need to be purchased in advance for. To top in all off join use for fireworks at 9pm on Sunday over our West Hill. Stay tuned to our website for more details.

London Public Library

Black History Month Family Day Celebration

Date: Sunday, February 17 from 1:30 – 3:30  pm     Cost: free
Location: London Public Library, Central Branch, 251 Dundas Street, London, Ontario

Join us as we celebrate Black History Month with activities for the whole family! Enjoy performances, Limbo dancing, music, crafts, games and more.  Presented by the London Black History Coordinating Committee in partnership with London Public Library and the London Children’s Museum.

Cost: Free

This drop-in program for adults and children will stimulate communication, collaboration and creativity. Visit one of our many exhibitions and then stop by for an afternoon of artmaking. Our staff monitors will provide guidance and introduce you to a wide range of art-making through painting, drawing, sculpture, print-making and more.

Join us for some outdoor family fun! The first 50 families can tap their own tree! Enjoy a Campfire, demonstrations and then our famous hot pancakes dripping with our very own maple syrup!

Cool Science Saturday

Feb. 16th, 2019 9am-5pm

One way to be cool but stay warm is inside the Canada Science and Technology Museum for Cool Science Saturday. Join us for a fun-filled day showcasing the coolest science in town. Demonstrations, experiments, workshops, and the challenges of cold weather exploration are all part of the day-long family experience. February may be the coldest month, but it’s the COOLEST day at the Museum!

Family Day on the Farm

Feb. 18th, 2019 9:30am – 4pm

A unique family learning adventure awaits you at the Canada Agriculture and Food Museum! Explore the sights and sounds of farm life through animals, exhibitions, treasures from the collection, and hands-on demonstrations. Enjoy indoor and outdoor family fun on this special winter day.
