My family was excited to participate in the first-ever kid-tastic Watermelon Blogger Challenge. We love to eat watermelon so we thought it would definitely fun to carve one! Every Halloween my husband takes on the task of carving our jack-o-lantern, so we decided that he was the right guy to wield the knife for thie watermelon challenge.
We put our thinking caps on and decided to carve a hot dog out of the watermelon. It was a cute idea and Mike got to work. At first it was looking okay, but as we all added our opinions and suggestions, it started to look less and less like a hot dog, lol. We decided it was time to go back to the drawing board!
While thinking about what we could carve next, we noticed that our “hot dog” looked a little like a creature when you turned it on it’s side. Mike got to work and carved away at it some more, and then added eyes. We don’t know exactly what he is, but he’s a silly wide mouthed creature with buggy eyes. I think he looks a bit like a frog.
So that was our first experience with watermelon carving! It was fun, and I think we will try it again sometime. You can take a look at other carvings and learn more about watermelons at www.watermelon.org.
