We love a good barbecue at my house, so when Sobeys offered to let us try some of their burgers and enjoy a BBQ dinner, I was in! I was able to choose which burgers I wanted to try. There are many options to choose from: 100% Beef; Prime Rib; Angus; Sirloin; Mesquite BBQ Sirloin; Cheddar & Bacon; Three Cheese; Peppercorn & Garlic or NEW Korean-Style, a juicy beef burger with flavours of soya sauce, sesame oil, apples and garlic. If you are looking for something a little lighter, Compliments Balance has Extra Lean Chicken and Wild Pacific Salmon Burgers.
Combine any of these burgers with Sobeys’ pairing tips, burger topping ideas and recipes fresh from the summer issue of Inspired magazine to create memorable summer meals that will turn your casual picnic into a backyard bash. Inspired magazine is now available at Sobeys stores and online at www.compliments.ca or www.inspired.ca.
Since I am trying to eat lean and healthy foods, but I still love burgers, I chose the Lean Sirloin Beef Burgers and the Extra Lean Chicken Burgers. Since I was in Sobeys already, and I know they have great salads, I also picked up a pre-made garden salad and two Compliments Salad dressings: Cucumber and Bacon & Garlic, to enjoy along with our burgers. I also bought some fresh tomatoes, onion and pickles as toppings, because that makes for a delicious burger! I wanted to get some Compliments buns, but everyone must have had the same idea and they were sold out.
Each box of burgers had 8 patties inside, which is perfect for my size of family, and if we made both boxes (which we did), there would be enough for some variety and enough left over for lunches the next day, which makes me happy because I have a “one cooked meal a day” limit, and leftovers let me have more than one delicious meal without having to cook it.
My husband fired up the grill, and we barbecued a delicious and mess free meal, courtesy of Sobeys!
Since my children wouldn’t want to eat anything that they perceive as
healthy, they stuck with the beef burgers (I didn’t mention that they were lean), added some cheese and ketchup and dug right in.
I topped a chicken burger with some lettuce and tomato, a pickle and some mayo and enjoyed! It was juicy and delicious and I had no guilt because I knew I was enjoying something lean and healthy.
It was a great meal, thanks to Sobeys, and you can enjoy your own dinner courtesy of Sobeys by entering the giveaway below!
