I was SO excited to get this grill. I would eat every meal grilled if I could, and with this Calphalon Electric Grill, that might just be possible! It is perfect for indoor grilling during our cold Canadian winters, and for rainy day grilling too! I really like that I can fit enough food on for my whole family.
I had a big yellow zucchini from my garden that I wanted to grill, so I cut it into 1″ thick pieces, brushed olive oil on it and sprinkled vegetable seasoning, and then put it on the hot grill. I knew the grill was hot because the green light came on to tell me, and it took about ten minutes for it to be hot after I turned everything on.
After putting the zucchini on the hot grill, I made sure the grill was set to 1 inch (remember that is the thickness of the squash pieces) and closed the grill.
I left them on there for just over ten minutes and they were cooked enough. I don’t like my squash really soft, so if you do, you would want to leave it longer. They were perfect and just the way I like them. I had some sliders to make, so I took the squash off of the grill and put the sliders on. I changed the grill to 1/2″ so that it would touch the top of the burgers and closed it for 15 minutes. Here is what I had when I opened it.
They were yummy! The grill looks like quite a mess right? No problem! I unplugged it and let it cool right off, then removed the non-stick plates. There is a button on the side of each plate that releases it and then I just wiped them clean at the sink and popped them back into the grill. There is also a removable drip tray for any thing that has run off but mine was empty so I just left it.
The grill works great for sandwiches too.
I like that the grill came with a handy guide that helps you know what temperature to set it at and how long to cook things. I know I will be using the grill a lot and will get to know how to cook everything, but in the meantime the guide is very helpful.
