Pure by Julianna Baggott (review and giveaway)

Pure by Julianna Baggott

Pure is the first book in a new trilogy by Julianna Baggott. When I first received my copy of Pure, I thought that the book was dirty. It felt like it had a layer of grime on it, but nothing was coming off on my hands, and only parts of the cover felt that way. Once I started reading, I started to understand.

The story is based on a post-apocalyptic world where some people live in a “pure” world inside a dome and the rest are left in a grotesque and terrifying  world of ash. Once I started reading, I couldn’t put it down. I read a review of Pure that said…

“… glorious … full of wonderful weirdness, tenderness, and wild suspense. If Katniss could jump out of her own book and pick a great friend, I think she’d find an excellent candidate in Pressia.”
— Aimee Bender, New York Times bestselling author of The Particular Sadness of Lemon Cake

…and I couldn’t agree more. I love The Hunger Games trilogy and while the stories are nothing alike, the concept of rising above and taking control of your own destiny, despite the risks, are very similar. I am anxious for the second book, and the movies that are sure to come since the film rights have already been sold.

This is one you won’t want to miss. Take my word for it!

Does “Green Eggs and Ham” count? Yes, it’s a classic, and unfortunately that’s about all I’ve had to read in the last little while. Still a great book, no?

Thanks so much for spotlighting this fabulous book and for hosting the even more fabulous contest! 🙂 And YAY for including Canada <3 I totally love you for that!

My most recent fantastic read, well that's easy – I finished reading The Fault In Our Stars yesterday. Cried myself to sleep. My husband called me a weirdo and a nut-job for crying my eyes out while reading a YA novel, but oh-well! 😛

If you haven't read it yet – get on it. Seriously 🙂

Water for Elephants was awesome! p.s. Ms. Baggott lives in my town (Tallahassee) and has visited my school on several occasions, handing out books to kids. I have all her N.E. Body books. These are great for younger readers, and are funny as heck!!
