Bathing suit season is here!

•

Bathing suit season is officially here, and it’s way too hot to avoid the pool or the beach because you are uncomfortable being seen in a swim suit! I wish there was a button we could push to get ourselves back in shape, but unfortunately we have to resort to eating right and exercise. Hours in front of the computer have got me completely out of shape, so when I started exercising again, it was even more difficult than it has been in the past…and do I ever feel it in the morning!

As someone starts to exercise, they will need to learn how to properly recover from their hard work. Stretching, eating certain foods and drinks and using heat and ice packs are all ways to avoid and recover from muscle aches and pains. You can find several techniques for recovering from strenuous exercise at

I find that the best way for me to avoid extreme muscle pain is to target different muscle groups each day, and to do my stretching afterwards. A good pair of running shoes makes a world of difference when you are taking part in a running program. While strength training, it can be difficult to find the fine line between pushing yourself and hurting yourself, but it’s important to listen to your body. If it’s easy, you aren’t doing enough and if it’s hurting, you may be doing too much. I try to stick with 3 sets of 12 repetitions during strength training, but increase the weight gradually every time I target that area.

Most importantly, I’m learning to be comfortable in the skin I’m in, even if I’m not at my goal weight. Life is way too short to spend being insecure or self-conscious about weight. I wish that was a lesson I learned a little earlier in life!

Oh goodness, you had to remind me. I am going to have this baby within a matter of days and there is no way I will be ready for a bathing suit anytime this summer.

UGH I hate both swim suit season and exercise LOL. Well I mean I wish I could have a great first one without the second.

I am really bad about stretching after exercise.

August 13-I lke to do walking and stretching one day and weight training in between. I haven’t been very faithful since the really hot, humid weather began. I do better in the fall, winter and spring. It is very important to stretch and, as you grow older, to do balancing exercises so you will have less falls hopefully. -el03ro

I’m terrible at stretching, but I find that doing Yoga, which I love, is a good way to sneak those stretches in!

I think stretching is key to avoiding unnecessary pain. I totally agree with you that life is way too short to spend being insecure or self-conscious about weight. You never know what will happen next.
