As someone who enjoys growing my own vegetables, I appreciate the value of fresh produce. I especially like to visit local Farmer’s Markets and make my purchases from local farmers who grow their produce organically. It’s also really nice to chat with the people who work the booths. You learn so much about their community and their farms!

All around Massachusetts, indoor and outdoor markets are becoming a weekly part of life for many residents. Offering produce, meat, baked goods, and arts and crafts, the markets provide a place for shopping, browsing, and learning about local producers while also creating space for communities to come together. Just a few of the many markets in Massachusetts are listed below. For more information on markets, shopping, and Massachusetts’ culinary scene, visit massvacation.com/culinary.

Massachusetts has farmer’s markets in Boston, Cape Cod and throughout the entire State. Not only can you find fresh produce, meat and baked goods … there are many handmade items and art pieces to enjoy at the markets. Some of these markets are open year round while others run from spring into early winter. You could make an entire vacation just out of visiting the State’s markets! You will most definitely get hungry during your visit, so why not add some waterfront dining to your itinerary?

The Bay State’s magnetic coasts and serene inland waterways offer a myriad of water based activities from swimming to fishing to kayaking, offering enjoyment in all seasons. What you might not know, is that these bodies of water are also the backdrop for an incredible culinary experience. From a whitewater rafting barbeque to a water taxi tour, visitors and residents alike can find something to suit their tastes and sense of adventure.

You don’t have to love seafood to enjoy the views of the water while you relax over a delicious meal. In Massachusetts you can dine right on the water in one of Boston’s Water Taxis or North Boston’s River Cruises. If you prefer the ground under your feet, you can dine at any of the available waterfront patios in the State. The amazing cuisine and spectacular views will definitely have you booking another visit in the near future.

Restaurants like the Legal Harborside give you the best of both worlds. You can dine in the first floor hull or move upstairs to enjoy a more land-like experience.

Legal Harborside is Legal Sea Foods’ 20,000 square foot flagship property on the Boston Waterfront, comprising three floors and three different concepts under one (retractable) roof. You’ll find a nod to our heritage on the first floor hull, with a casual menu of seafood favorites with a twist, an oyster bar and an old-fashioned fish market. The second floor dining room offers cuisine prepared with sensible creativity for celebratory eating and private dining events. And those that visit the third floor promenade deck will enjoy a four-season rooftop lounge with a retractable glass roof and walls for cocktails and bites. All aboard!

Whether you choose to dine on some fresh fruit and cheese from the market or venture out onto a boat for some fine dining, you will find delicious food and a fantastic atmosphere in Massachusetts.

Not sure if we’ll ever get to Boston, but I do love eating at the waterfront! We go down to Fisherman’s Wharf here in Victoria and eat quite regularly! Love it!

I have never been to Boston before, I so want to go one day and see all the history and of course eat on the waterfront! It’s always neat to do that we ate on the wharf in San Francisco right by the waterfront and it was neat to see all the sea lions while we were dining.
