Sabatasso’s makes Gluten Free Pizza

•

Since my son’s Ulcerative Colitis diagnosis, we have been working towards a completely gluten free diet for him. I don’t want him to feel deprived of thing that he loves, so I have been trying all kinds of gluten free products with him until we find the perfect substitutes for his favourite foods. It has been easier to find delicious gluten free foods than I thought it would be.

One of our new favourites are the Sabatasso’s Gluten Free cheese pizzas. These are a very thin crust pizza,  which is my favourite kind. The kids like a cheese only pizza, but my husband and I prefer toppings so I add some of our favourite veggies to one pizza for us and leave one as cheese only for the kids. I can cook both pizzas at the same time using the convection oven too!

Sabatasso’s cooking instructions say to place the frozen pizza right on the oven rack,  but I don’t recommend it. I tried one cheese pizza on the rack, and because the crust is to thin it ended up melting right through the rack in a few places. I use my pizza stone and get great results. Plus, it gives you a great cutting surface for your pizza.

Kellen isn’t a huge fan of pizza, but he enjoys it on occasion and he said that this pizza was good for him. My husband and I really like it, and my daughter did not like it at all. She prefers a thicker crust, so this just wasn’t the right choice for her.

Overall, I think that the Sabatasso’s Gluten Free pizza is the perfect choice for my son and for anyone who requires a gluten free diet. I thought it tasted like any regular thin crust pizza I have tried, and I know my son won’t feel deprived when we have pizza. You can find Sabatasso’s Gluten Free Cheese pizzas at Costco.

Thanks for the review. My daughters friend has a severe gluten allergy, and is always on the lookout for safe food. I will mention it to her.

Thanks for the review. We don’t have any issues with gluten in our family but still may try them out for a change.

Its great that gluten free products are becoming easier to find. I have a friend that has 3 children all diagnosed to be gluten intolerant. It can be hard feeding them a healthy variety of foods sometimes.

This looks like a great little snack for when my girlfriend comes over to visit. She has been diagnosed with Celiac disease and has had to change her lifestyle completely. Gluten free food is obviously more expensive than regular food and she is already living on a tight budget so maybe after we try these out I can pick some up for her and show her that she can still enjoy some tasty treats without worrying about her Celiac

We had the same issue with the pizza falling through the rack. We will try to find a good pizza stone and try that. My son is Autistic so we try G/F as often as we can. He loves this pizza. If Domino’s is in your area, they make a great G/F pizza crust too now!!

I have made this pizza twice with a stone. The first time I thawed the pizza as the stone heated up despite the instructions saying not to. I had some serious sticking in the middle of the pie. The second time, I did not thaw the pizza and my stone cracked. Pizza stuck too.

Do you thaw the pizza before using the stone? How do you avoid the stone cracking?
