If you have been following along this month, you will be excited to see the final reveal of our basement washroom. While having four washrooms in a house probably isn’t a priority, it will be very nice for my oldest son who has his bedroom in the basement and has been trecking up two flights of stairs to shower every morning. It has taken us about 6 weeks to complete the work and it is finally done!
Here is what the space looked liked at the end of the summer…

It was roughed in and partially drywalled, but that was it. We had to move the drain before we could get started, and then it was time to build a bathroom. This is a very small room, so we were doing our best to choose fixtures that would be functional without taking up too much space. I wanted it to look elegant without spending a fortune, and most of all I wanted it functional.
I am very pleased with how it has turned out.

You can see that we decided not to use the pedestal sink and faucet that we had. Instead we purchased a small vanity that would provide a little storage space and take up less room than the pedestal sink was. I think it was a good choice. I bought a kit that had the toilet paper holder, towel ring, etc but in such a confined space we realized that we couldn’t use all of the pieces. We found a stand to hold the toilet paper instead.

These are the items we purchased from Home Depot for our washroom:
- Naturi Lagos Grey tile
- Premium Plus Standard Thin-Set Mortar
- Behr Premium Plus Interior Satin Enamel
- LILA FRENCH Shower Kit
- Moen Adler Shower Head
- American Standard Mainstream Complete Toilet
- Digital timer for the bathroom fan
- NuTone Fan/Light
- FOREMOST INTERNATIONAL Kole 19 1/2 Inch Vanity
- Moen Danika 1 Handle Bath Faucet
- Zenith Frameless Bevel Swing Medicine Cabinet
- ZENITHÂ Collette 21.5 Inch W Wall Cabinet In White
- MARTHA STEWART LIVINGÂ Seal Harbor 4 Piece Bath Kit in Polished Nickel
We also purchased several small plumbing pieces, caulking and other small hardware necessary for the job. We had a door and handle already. In the end the project cost just over $1700. We could have made less expensive choices in most areas, just like we could have made more elaborate selections, so Home Depot really can work for whatever budget you are working within.

I would love to hear what you think of our finished washroom!
