Win tickets to The Toronto Sportsmen’s Show Feb 6-9th #TSS14

Whether you are an outdoor enthusiast or a family looking for some ways to stay active, you will want to check out The Toronto Sportsmen’s Show from February 6-9th at the Direct Energy Centre at Exhibition Place.

Sportsmen's Show 20130307

The Toronto Sportsmen’s Show, part of the Canadian National Sportsmen’s Shows (CNSS), first took place in Toronto in 1948 under the leadership of world famous outdoorsman, author and dedicated conservationist, Frank Kortright, who devoted his life to protecting Canada’s wilderness. Sixty five years later, CNSS has helped protect Canada’s outdoors with grants in excess of $32 million. Community programs launched by CNSS include “Kids Fishing Day,” which allocates more than 6,500 fishing kits to kids each year.

With over 400 entertaining and educational exhibits, the Toronto Sportsmen’s Show is the largest combined fishing, hunting, boating and outdoor adventure show in Canada. The show offers information about sporting products and services, but it also provides fun and entertainment for families. Here are some highlights of what you can discover at this year’s Toronto Sportsmen’s Show:

  • Outdoor Adventure Zone: If you have a taste for adventure and excitement, you can test your kayaking and canoe skills at the Hamilton Halton Brant Tourism Adventure Pool!
  • Athletes can be furry and four-legged too! Some of the world’s finest canine athletes will put on a show: The Marvelous Mutts, A Canine Spectacular.
  • The Bird’s of Prey exhibit will feature a number of North America’s endangered species of birds that you can see first-hand!

The show also features some exciting guests this year.

Four-time Stanley Cup Champion and Toronto Maple Leafs hockey legend, Bobby Baun will be in attendance at this year’s show. Bobby is fondly remembered by Leaf fans for his performance in game six of the 1963–64 NHL Stanley Cup finals when after breaking his leg earlier in the game, he returned in overtime and scored the game-winning goal. To commemorate the 50th anniversary of this historic achievement, the Toronto Sportsmen’s Show is hosting a special booth for Bobby where fans can meet and get his autograph each day of the show from 2p.m. to 4p.m.

Sportsmen's Show 20130316Bobbi Switzer is returning to the show to showcase her incredible and unique talent – using electric chainsaws provided by Husqvarna to carve and create beautifully crafted pieces of art. You can see some of her work from last year’s show on the left.

The Beasley Brothers are true Canadian boys who love to be in the woods. These three brothers have been chasing whitetail bucks since they were old enough to hunt.  Always entertaining and always eager to interact with their fans, the Beasley Brothers will be appearing on the Hunting Hall Stage on Friday, February 7 at 1p.m. and Saturday, February 8 at 11a.m.

Back by popular demand, Targeting the Huntress is an all-female panel of hunters who will share their experiences and showcase the growing popularity of hunting among women.  Moderated by Toronto Sportsmen’s Show Ambassador and celebrity pro hunter, Amanda Lynn Mayhew, this is a session you won’t want to miss.  Check it out on Saturday, February 8 at 2p.m. on the Hunting Hall Stage.

A visit to the Fish TV Zone is a must for anglers and kids alike. Leo Stakos and Ron James will be on hand throughout the show to meet their fans. Kids can catch their first fish in the always popular trout ponds and anglers will learn new tips and tricks from the impressive line-up of pro staffers on the Fish TV Stage. Plus, don’t forget the high energy shows all weekend long by the Toronto Raptor Girls!
