Make Ahead Recipe: Freezer Bag Chili

I have many variations on my chili recipe and often what goes in it is dependent on what I find in the cupboard. On this particular day, I didn’t have any kidney beans on hand so I chose to use garbonzo beans in their place. Whatever bean you choose, it is sure to warm you from the inside on a cold day! Chili is one of my husband’s favourite meals, so I made sure to include it in the freezer bags I prepared for him while I was away.

Yum! I often freeze chili after I have cooked it but have never thought about freezing in advance so it is ready to pop in the slow cooker, will have to try that out!

I used the canned garbonzo beans so I just have to rinse them. They are what hummus is made from. I love them!

Chili is one of my go to faves, would be great to have it already & just pop it in the cooker

I use a mix of canned beans too – whatever is around. Have you ever thought of putting various colours of peppers in your chili? I stock up when they are on sale, chop, freeze and add to chili, stir-fry’s, soups etc.

I hadn’t thought of cooking freezer dinners in the slow cooker. It’ll be a wonderful way to be able to forget about it all day and then have a meal ready at suppertime! Thanks for these recipes.

I am so happy to have another Freezer Bag Recipe. This is another recipe I want to try. I thought you had to put kidney beans in Chili. Anyway, I know beans are a good source of protein and thank you for this recipe.

We love chili because it makes such a great meal outdoors, and tastes better with each meal…however, though we use all of your ingredients we have never had the patience to slow-cook it. Does it actually improve the taste?
