As a Mom of four children who have 15 years between the first and the last, I have seen my share of toys come into our house. Some have stood the test of time and lasted through all of the children, while others had shorter life spans. One thing that has always been true is that each toy is for a specific age or ability, so each child would use it when they were in that point in their lives. This is no longer the reality for all toys. Now your toys can grow with your children, rather than waiting for the next child to grow into them. Fisher Price has changed the way toys work with their new Smart Stages technology.
Smart Stages™ technology is an exciting new way to change learning content as baby grows. Every baby develops at his/her own pace, and Smart Stages™ gives you the ability to select the stage that’s best for your child. There are a variety of developmentally appropriate songs, phrases and sounds within the levels of play – just slide the switch or enter baby’s age for automatic level changes.
This adorable Laugh & Learn Puppy’s Smart Stages Train includes Smart Stages technology. It has three stages that can be changed by simply sliding the switch. The first stage in Smart Stages Technology is the Explore stage. By around six months, babies love to do the same thing, over and over again. Smart Stages Level 1 inspires curiosity as they start to explore, with early learning concepts, fun phrases, playful songs, and lots of baby-appropriate activities. The Puppy Train’s first level is for 6 months and up and it focuses on first words and sounds to spark baby’s curiosity. Busy activities on the train include a slider ladybug, ABC spinner, number roller, clacker beads & more.
Stage 2 is to encourage children. It is intended for children 12 months and up and the toys in this stage ask basic questions and offer simple instructions to encourage your child with rewards. My one year old great-niece was really enjoying the Puppy Train on stages 1 and 2! She enjoyed putting the animals in and out of the train. It has over fifty sing-along songs, tunes & phrases to help her learn!
Stage three is for children 18 months and older who are starting to engage in pretend play, particularly to imitate the adults in their lives. Level 3 inspires imaginative fun with songs, sounds and phrases for creative, open-ended play. My two year old great-nephew played with the Puppy Train in level three. He liked to press the buttons and make the train go across the room while it played music. It will help him learn his colours, shapes, letters, opposites & more.
I really appreciate that the Smart Stages technology not only allows the toys to grow with each of your children, but it also allows more than one child in the same family to appreciate the same toy. I gave the Puppy Train to my great-niece but I knew that both children would be playing with it and I’m glad that they can both enjoy it.
