Every year the ball drops and people across the country make resolutions, often about their health and habits. While I prefer to label them “goals” than resolutions, it’s all the same thing and I’ve made some of my own this year.
I will eat healthier. I will exercise more. I will lose weight. I will gain strength.
Unfortunately, they are goals I have set in years past and not achieved, but I believe this year will be different. I feel less “gung ho” than I have in previous years, and more content with my plan. I am not on a timeline and I will not let my setbacks put an end to me reaching my goals. In the past I have set up healthy diets that work well at home, but not when I travel. I have participated in exercise regimens that were fantastic while the weather was fine, but unachievable during the winter months. This time I am planning for everything.
I really enjoy fruit and vegetable smoothies because they are a quick way to get a lot of nutrients, and I can drink them while I work at my desk. I add Orange Naturals ND Shakes for protein and extra fibre too. While I am away from home, I plan to seek out fresh fruit, yogurt and protein like eggs and peanut butter.
I like to walk and last year I was enjoying running too, but my fall on the ice last winter has left me a little nervous about winter walks. I picked up some spikes to add to my boots, and some home gym equipment will help keep me on track when it’s just too cold to go out.
I take daily supplements that are right for my age, my gender and my health conditions too. All of these steps, combined with drinking lots of water and getting decent sleep, will help me reach my goals. I am confident of it!
Another tool in my arsenal for good health is 100 Days Of Real Food by Lisa Leake. It is packed full of recipes, tips for reading labels and purchasing healthy ingredients, and it tells the story of how one family changed their eating habits and their lives.
