For the past several months my family has been eating more fresh fruits and vegetables and whole grains than ever before, and my grocery bill has increased quite a bit. I’m not willing to go back to the way things used to be, so I need to stay on top of the bargains that are out there. As I’ve mentioned in the past, the Flipp app is the perfect tool for finding a bargain, but it is even better now and when used at Walmart it is ideal.
Flipp 2.0 launched on Wednesday, February 18th on iOS. Android will be available at the end of the month. The new Flipp has even more features available to help save you money. You can now set up your own shopping list and the really awesome part is how the app helps you find what you need. You can see in my list below that there are numbers next to each item. Those circled numbers represent the number of deals Flipp found for each item. When you click on the number you are shown a list of all of the items, their prices and what stores they can be found at. You can then click the items you want and they are added to your clippings.
The ability to compare prices side by side on your smartphone is not only a huge time saver, but it’s a very practical cost-saving tool. Walmart guarantees the lowest price, so if you find the same item for less at another store you can get the same price at Walmart by showing the current flyer item at the checkout. On this particular trip, Walmart had the best deals, but I can’t wait to use Flipp 2.0 to save even more money in the future.
My daughter was a great helper during our grocery shopping trip at Walmart. She enjoyed using Flipp 2.0 to check off the items I added to the cart, and if I put something in the cart that wasn’t on the list, she quickly added it. It was the perfect task for a pre-teen and helped me stay on track with price matching.
In the end we had a cart full of good food and we spent less than we would have at our local grocery store. In fact, the selection of produce and meat is so much better at Walmart that it would be worth heading there even without the savings… but the savings make it that much sweeter!
