My weight loss struggle is no secret. However, the struggle is less about what I eat and how I exercise, than it is about the excuses I make not to exercise and get into shape. I have four children, three are still young and living at home, and they take up a great deal of my time. I’m married, and a husband can be a lot of work (you know it’s true!), and then there’s the housework that is never done. Add a home business to that, and I just don’t have time to get to the gym.
This year, I have come to a realization. My kids probably won’t miss me for an hour or two a few times a week and the housework will never be done whether I go to the gym or not. I am also a more effective business owner when I am healthy and alert. I want to set a better example for my children by making the time to exercise and take care of myself.

Choosing a gym can be challenging. As a middle aged woman who is not in great shape, I am more than a little self-conscious about going to the gym. I need a program that is going to be easy to follow and will work for people of all fitness levels. Coaches or trainers on-site are a big plus too, since I don’t know how to perform all of the exercises or work different machines. I don’t want to feel like I am alone in the process.
Orangetheory Fitness, which is opening in London later this Spring, meets all of these needs. Their one-hour fitness class, that includes running and rowing, is not just for athletes, it’s for moms like me, who have limited time and may need the support of a coach. You can read more about it in this article in Elle Magazine. Another article suggests that Orangetheory is one of seven fitness programs that we all need to try in 2016.

Better yet, the class incorporates monitors to track your performance and motivate you to give it that extra effort, no matter what your fitness level. And, the class is designed to give your metabolism a boost for an extra 36 hours. Check it out here.
Thankfully, I can have a chance to try it myself, because Orangetheory Fitness is opening here in London, ON at 1025 Wellington Road this Spring. They’re offering special rates if you join the studio now, or you can wait to sign up for a free trial class once the gym has opened.
I believe it may be just what I’m looking for: a quick workout with lots of support and maximum benefits.
