PhotoWeavers is a family owned and operated textile mill nestled in the foothills of North Carolina. They have been weaving lovely gift, home décor and photographic products for over thirty years. Their weaving roots date back to the time of the American Revolution, when they supplied General George Washington with blankets at Valley Forge.
MY THOUGHTS
This picture of Kellen is one of my all time favourites. He was about 2 years old and discovering the beauty of nature. Mike snapped this picture on a beautiful autumn day.
When I was deciding what picture to use for my Woven Photo Blanket, I had to decide if I wanted a collage of photos, two or three photos blocked on the throw, or just one photo. I played with a variety of ideas on the Photoweavers website, and although I really wanted all of my kids on one of the throws, I couldn’t find just the right combination of pictures (I’m picky and wanted them to be similar pictures).
Then I took this picture of Kellen and put it up all by itself and I knew I had the right choice. I could choose a border or not, and I went without, and I can’t begin to tell you how happy I am with this throw.
Pictures can not do it justice.
It is beautiful. It brought my mother-in-law to tears and now she needs to have one. It is very large (70″ x 53″) so it was hard to get a good picture of it, but I hope you can see the amazing detail they captured in the weaving.
I hadn’t told anyone else in the family about the throw until it arrived, and Mike was very pleased because it is a picture he took and was proud of. Kellen tends to be a little reserved with his excitement about things like this, but he kept quietly telling people that the throw was actually a picture of him (he and Griffin look so much alike at that age so everyone kept thinking it was Griffin).
I am just in love with this throw and I will treasure it for the rest of my life, and I’m sure Kellen and his future family will treasure it after that. In time, I hope to have more made with my other children on them so that each one of them will have a special keepsake.
