As you have probably noticed, I’ve been a little slow to get back to work after the holidays. Our home has been plagued with viruses for weeks and I’m attempting to reclaim my home and my energy to focus on the coming year. I thought I would start off with a bit of a re-introduction of myself by sharing some facts that you may or may not know about me.
I am both the youngest and the middle child.

I was the youngest child for 11 years, until I was dethroned by my baby brother. I relate to many personality traits for both youngest and middle children. Talk about an identity crisis!
I am terrified of spiders.
ALL spiders. Big ones, small ones, fake ones, pictures of them… I can’t handle it. I have no real reason to be afraid, and I have no desire to be “cured”.
I bite my nails.
I know it’s gross. I have done it my whole life and most of the time I don’t even notice I’m doing it. When necessary, I cover up the hideous mess with acrylic nails.
I have moved at least 19 times in my life.
However, I have only lived in 4 different cities and they are all within the same 150 km radius. My husband and I bought our home just over 11 years ago, and it’s the longest I’ve ever lived in one place.
I could live on green olives.
I would rather have them on a pizza, but if I had to choose just one thing to eat for the rest of my life… it would be green olives.
I didn’t meet my oldest brother until I was 29 years old.
He was placed for adoption as a baby, and I found out about him when I was a pre-teen. I started my search for him when I was 19 years old, and an internet site connected us ten years later. We look very much alike and his first child was born just days after my first son. He is a bigger Disney fanatic than me!
I went grey at a young age.

I found my first grey hair when I was just 14 years old. By the time I was in my late twenties, it was necessary to colour my hair to cover the grey, and now I feel like I’m lying if I say my natural colour is dark brown. It’s grey. My skin remains an olive tone that doesn’t match the grey at all, so I still colour my hair, most of the time.
My first plane ride was when I was 36 years old.
I always wanted to travel, but I allowed myself to believe it wasn’t a possibility. As part of a business trip for the print magazine I owned, I went on my first flight with my infant son, my mother and my friend/business partner. It was a first flight for all of us. In the seven years since then, I have been on over two dozen round trip flights.
I have a potty mouth.
I can drop an f-bomb with the best of them, but I usually save them for my closest friends and family. No, I don’t swear AT people, I just value the emphasis that a curse word can add to a statement.
I am a former sculptor/painter.

Before arthritis took over my hands and my blog took over my time, I was a sculptor and painter. This was the niche for the magazine I created as well. So if you are afraid of dolls and want to work through your fears, I have lots of photos to help you through it.
I was a Social Worker.
I worked in the social work field for twenty years, primarily with people with disabilities and seniors, but also with at risk teens and in a women’s shelter.
I usually have more than one job.
Up until my late thirties, I rarely worked just one job. Outside of social work and social media, I have worked for a photographer, in restaurants, in a movie theatre, at a soil testing laboratory, and as a tutor and notetaker in college. I have been licensed in insurance sales, owned a gift basket business, worked in web design and owned a print magazine. While some of this was out of necessity, much of it was a desire to learn and do more.
I love photography.

I discovered a real love for photography when I started traveling more. I am not an expert by any means, but I would like to take a course to learn more. On each trip I take hundreds of photos and usually have less than ten that I think are exceptional. Those ten photos make me very happy though.
Books are my happy place.
I love to read. I am a little embarrassed to admit that I really enjoy young adult literature, but I justify it by the fact that I have to review books for my children to read. I also love adult fiction, science fiction, biographies and the occasional mystery. I am not a huge fan of romance novels or thrillers. I’m always looking for reading recommendations.
I have never tried poutine.
And I won’t. But if you are a regular reader, you already know that 😉
That’s my list for now! Is there anything on it that surprises you? Tell me something about YOU in the comments, and maybe I’ll share more about me in the future.
