Tide: Reviewed it. Loved it. Sold for Life.

•

I used Tide before I joined the PG Mom team in 2013 and eventually became a loyal Tide customer. Tide has a great scent, and they have non-scented options for those who don’t like it. It did a good job cleaning my clothing too. When I had small children, Tide would take the urine smell out of soiled bedding better than other brands, so I always kept some on hand. However, there were cheaper laundry detergents available. I felt they did an equally good job on regular loads of laundry, so I bought those most of the time.

As part of the PG Mom team, I learned about many varieties of Tide that I hadn’t noticed in the stores. There was Tide for sensitive skin and Tide with Downy, and Tide Pods, just to name a few. These were great, but these are not the things that made me a Tide customer for life. The permanent switch to Tide came after a visit to the P&G Head Office where I saw the Tide difference with my own eyes.

The Tide Difference

At the Head Office, I looked under a microscope to see the differences between clothing washed with Tide compared to other laundry detergent brands. I expected to see that it did a better cleaning job than the other brands, and I did. But, I also saw that it added a layer of protection to the fibres in your clothing. This makes clothes last longer and hold their shape better than clothes washed in competitor brands. The thing that really sold me on Tide was how well it could restore clothing that had already been damaged.

The slide on the left shows damaged fibres and the slide on the right shows the same fibres after a Tide cleaning. This was the clincher for me. Yes, I want clean clothes but I also want to save money. Once I realized that using Tide was saving me money on clothing, the extra cost no longer mattered.

The Tide Tests

Tide asked people to do some cleaning tests for our readers, and I tested ketchup stains, orange juice stains and rubbed in dirt stains. We really rubbed those stains in and even left the shirts for longer than the recommended time before washing. They all came clean and live on today as tie-dyed shirts.

I was already sold on Tide before I did the tests, but it was nice to see how well it worked on those heavy stains. These days I buy different types of Tide but most often stick to Tide Pods. They are easy to use and no one can add too much detergent like they do with the liquid. I have not bought any other brand of laundry detergent since 2014 because I am forever a loyal Tide customer.

Are you a Tide for Life customer too?

While I have worked with P&G and Tide in the past, this post has not been sponsored or commissioned.
